Reminders

Creating a life in Southern California for a family of six is not easy.  Housing is expensive, gas is expensive, food is becoming increasingly expensive.  More families have to rely on two incomes, we drive every where, are required to choose {or not choose} from loads of activities to participate in.  Occasionally we discuss the possibility of moving somewhere else.  Where there is more space, a community where the schools may be in less of a crisis than the LAUSD, or perhaps the majority of people may share the same values,  where we may have more margin and feel safer. More comfortable.

Last night, I was reminded that God has a plan for each of us and though each plan comes with a cost,  His plans promise blessings outweigh the cost.  Six men, close friends of ours as well as my father-in-law came over to share a meal and speak words of truth, love, encouragement and edification into my son who just turned 10.  As I left to go have dinner with a girlfriend, my heart was full knowing that each of these men all love my son.  They have come to know him by watching him grow, play and learn.  I believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that they pray for him.  I trust they would be there for him if we couldn’t and stand with us in the way we are trying to do family. along with their wives, each are incredible pillars of friendship for me and together we are part of a community.

Community such as this is priceless and I am reminded to never take it for granted. It is rare, it is a gift and I want to cherish and receive it with humility and gratitude.  It was a reminder to bloom where you are planted, whether in the crowded and impacted terrain of the South Bay or the wide open spaces of the mid-west.

Where ever you are… there you are.

Let God show you His goodness in the land of the living.

Where do you see it most?

This is a good reminder that God supplies our needs, no matter where we are if we depend on him and give him the praise and glory. Thank you for your insight and for this reminder. You are a true blessing to the Family.

Blessings to you and your family, Diana Hanshaw
